Learn more about Charr
Charr started from a simple belief: if you’re going to eat every day, your food shouldn’t be boring. I grew up around loud, specific flavours, and I grew up in many different countries. People remembered these flavours from restaurants and holidays, but never found a way to make them at home. I noticed how often those flavours get watered down or turned into “generic global” products. I wanted to bottle the real flavours in a way that fits a normal kitchen with clean-label ingredients without leaning on sugar or dairy to make it taste good. . That’s when Charr became a business.
Charr is a founder-led CPG brand making world-cuisine BBQ sauces that are clean-label but taste-first. We build each sauce like a case study: start with the their original traditional recipe and then make them into a clean label shelf stable format. We test on proteins, vegetables, and plant-based options until it’s repeatable and scores well every single time. Production is done in Canada with tight batch consistency, because the whole point is that the second bottle tastes like the first.
What makes it different is we don’t do “BBQ but global.” We do unique, recognizable profiles people already love from restaurants and travel, in a format that fits a normal kitchen. Most of these sauces are hard to find on shelves today and we are glad people can try these flavours at home with their family and friends.
Persian BBQ Sauce (Saffron & Lime)
It’s the one people don’t expect. It’s not sweet. It’s a beautiful yellow colour, with saffron aroma and bright lemon flavour. The aroma is like that of a “Persian restaurant”. It works specially well on seafood, chicken, and roasted veg.
How we make it matters: saffron can disappear or burn really quickly. It’s a very delicate spice and so we work with it very carefully and slowly. We also don’t use any essence or flavour, so its all natural saffron which also makes it more premium.
Middle Eastern (Sumac & Cumin). It’s the most closest to “kebab shop” flavour in the lineup – its tangy and savoury, with that sumac aroma. Having spent so much time in the Middle East, it reminds me of home. It’s also amazingly versatile: works with any protein or vegetable. If I could keep only one bottle in my fridge, it’s that one.
