Serenita Candle Company
Serenita Candle Company is a Canadian candle shop and local Victoria BC business. Their candles are made in Canada using soy wax and essential oils.
How would you describe your business?
I definitely create through inspiration. All of my products are made with essential oils. The candles are made using Soy which is a renewable resource, many of the herbs and flowers I use for decor I grow myself, alternately, I love shopping at the local farmers markets and picking out seasonal flowers. The crystals are ethically sourced and all the candles come in a variety of sizes. In early 2025 after some supply struggles, I sidestepped into creating my own candle vessels using Jesmonite, a gypsum based medium. I love the clean finish of this eco friendly material. The goal is to work towards the entire product line one day being in these vessels, making them truly a handmade candle. For now, the 4oz candles in 14 different scent blends are available gift boxed both in the shop and on the website. With a background in food and wine, I love creating and once I had a lineup of unique blends for my candles, I looked to other opportunities to grow my business while sticking to my belief that we can create beautiful products with natural ingredients. Car Diffusers became all the rage in the summer of 2024. They’re natural, clip on your car vent, and are refillable! Then there were linen sprays……..infused with crystals! The possibilities are endless.
What was the inspiration to open your business?
Honestly 2 years ago I was faced with the possible closure of the company I’d worked for for a long time and thought to myself….I really want to try something that inspires me, so with the closure looming, I dug deep and one morning, I woke up and knew exactly what the next phase looked like. I’d been a candle lover for so many years and wanted to create something different, something clean, fresh and natural. I took a leap of faith and have never questioned my choice.

Why do you think it’s so popular?
A blend of fir, cedarwood, scotch pine, eucalyptus, & just a touch of cypress, it smells like a walk in the forest after a rain. Whether you’re looking for a gift to take home after a trip to Vancouver Island or always want to bring nature into your space, this one will transport you to a place of peace and calm.
What’s your favourite product from your own shop?
Sonno Linen Spray – This one has been at the top of my list since it was first created. I spray it on my pillows each night. The blend of Lavender, Eucalyptus and Ylang Ylang, just make you want to drift off to sleep. I love the candle, but the linen spray is in a class all its own.
What’s your favourite local British Columbia shop?
Oooh that’s a tough one! There are so many great ones. I think I’d have to say The Hermit’s Path, we collaborate with such ease and her products are amazing. Did I mention she’s also my local crystal dealer (not to be taken out of context) 🙂
