Woodworks Of Art is a local Manitoba shop based in Brandon by husband and wife team, Ryan & Amanda. They create beautiful Canadian made furniture like dining tables and handcrafted wood products like charcuterie boards, coasters, salt cellars, cutting boards, and more.
How would you describe your business?
We design and produce high quality, fine furniture. All our pieces are made to order, with a combination of hand tools and modern technology. We use a wide range of wood species and design in a variety of styles. Every project is a partnership, with us as the designers and makers and the client as our collaborator.
What inspired you to open your shop?
Ryan always had an interest in woodworking and when he went to university for architecture he developed a passion for design. He brought the two interests together to form Woodworks of Art. Following an on-air career in Radio, his wife Amanda joined full-time in 2021.
What’s your bestselling product?
Dining tables are our most popular item. The internet shows us thousands of pictures with every search and our clients may see a photo of something they want in their home, but maybe it’s not the exact style that their home is. We take the idea of what they like, adjust so it does fit their space and their style.
Why do you think they’re so popular?
Dining tables are the most popular item because of what they represent in our lives. Your dining table is a gathering place in your home. Everyone comes together there and it is something that you have for years, and with our pieces, generations to come!
What’s your personal favourite product from your shop?
Primarily we are custom furniture makers, we do have an online shop filled with unique, small batch items. Each piece is an original design, so it is hard to choose a favourite, but we love our Steak Boards! We have never seen anything like them and we couldn’t be more proud! Clients must agree because in our shop – they are the most popular item.
What’s your favourite local Manitoba shop?
Our favourite local business is Dave and Leah at our UPS store here in Brandon! In them we see another husband-and-wife team who go above and beyond for their customers. They are always so helpful and friendly!
