What inspired you to start your business?

I started The Soap Company of Nova Scotia Ltd. because I had a life-long need for these products, which I had not been able to find anywhere else. Since 2013 I’ve built a collection of products designed specifically for people and pets living with scent and/or chemical sensitivities . . which means they help folks everywhere feel great in their skin!

How would you describe your business?

All of our products are handcrafted with care using high quality natural ingredients, with 25% of every bar being sea water from the Atlantic Ocean! Our packaging is designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with every box being compostable and all other packaging being either recyclable or reusable.

Finally, most of our products are available in a variety of combo and pack sizes, giving folks maximum choice with respect to cost per use in dollars and environmental impact for delivery

What’s your bestselling product?

Haha this is easy! Anything patchouli, and in particular the patchouli 3-in-1 bars, laundry powder and deodorant.

Why do you think it’s so popular?

The exotic scent of our signature patchouli blend of essential oils is a hands down favourite, with folks having a visceral reaction to it . . . people either really love it or don’t . . . and the folks who do love it really, really, really do.

What’s your favourite product from your shop right now?

Honey & Oat Soap . . . it is what I started the company with and remains my favourite product. It is, quite simply, food for your skin.
