What inspired you to start your business?
When I got engaged, I wanted wedding jewelry that was original and different. Being a creative person, I thought about how special it would be to make my own jewelry! It would be exactly what I wanted, and make it a meaningful keepsake. Roxy and I signed up for a beginner jewelry making class and learned the basics. We loved it so much that we started making jewelry for ourselves, for friends, as gifts for family. We wanted to share our love of sparkly gems and unique, handcrafted jewelry with even more people, and Drakestail Jewellery was born!
How do you describe your business?
Drakestail Jewellery is a small, Canadian women-owned business creating unique, handcrafted jewellery designs. Our jewelry is made using a variety of semiprecious gemstones, pearls, and crystal, and many of our pieces are one of a kind. Between us we have decades of experience designing and creating our pieces, and each necklace, bracelet, and earring is carefully crafted and made to last.
What’s your bestselling product?
A lot of our products are one-of-a-kind or limited run, but lately one of our most popular products has been our essential oil bracelets. They’re sturdy stretch bracelets made in a variety of gemstones.
Why do you think they’re so popular?
Our essential oil bracelets are accessible jewelry, as they have no clasp and are easy to wear. Each one features a lava stone that can absorb your favourite essential oil or scent, so you can enjoy it all day. We’ve gotten a lot of love about them from our clients!
What’s your personal favourite product from your shop right now?
My personal favourite product right now is our Rhumba collection of earrings. They’re silver chainmaille dangle earrings with glass beads, available in a variety of colours. I love how much they swing and sparkle, and despite being long they’re quite light to wear. The ear wires are hypoallergenic surgical steel, and comfortable to wear all day.
What’s your favourite local Arnprior shop?
In Arnprior, it’s definitely either White Pine Books, or Mallard’s Milk Bar.
