What inspired you to start your business?

As a mom of 3 daughters when it was time for me to start the personal care convo with my kids, I searched for a cool looking, all natural premium deodorant made exclusively for young humans and fell short. I started off doing extensive research on the deodorant market, understanding body odor (especially in kids) and also taking the time to understand what parents were looking for. After 2 years (and gathering feedback from close to 100 kids) we launched Ellie’s Earth made in Canada all natural deo!

How would you describe your business?

Our business is very unique, as we are the first premium all natural and Canadian made deodorant for kids. What makes ours for kids? The deodorants are shaped, sized and scented for kids. Our formulation is specific and unique, and after interviewing several companies across North America, we settled on a Canadian manufacturer to make our deodorant; this is a decision we are so proud of! Our deodorants are vegan, aluminum free and made with essential oils as scents.

What’s your bestselling product?

Warrior! What’s really cool is we’ve been deliberate in not coining our scents as “girl, boy, unisex”. By removing gender from all of our products & keeping the names fun and engaging (ie our “warrior” scent is described as “smells like a spicey lumberjack in a lavender field!”) a scent that I personally thought would be our least attractive has come out on top.

Why do you think it’s so popular?

Over and above what we explained in the previous response, I do believe the name of our scent “warrior” really resonates with a large audience. Whether we’re girl or boy moms, we all want our kids to feel confident and be “warrior-like”.

What’s your personal favourite product from your shop?

My personal favorite right now is actually Summer Nights. This deodorant speaks to me because it has subtle notes of citrus and really reminds me of playing beach volleyball on a Friday evening at Wasaga Beach # 5 (if you know, you know!)

What’s your favourite local Ontario shop?

My absolute favourite local business is “heirloom beauty”, owned by Hina Limbabda. Hina and I launched our companies around the same time, both of our lines are Canadian made and we are both strong, South Asian Canadian women!
