What inspired you to start your business?
My inspiration to start my business began in 2023 while planning my wedding. I started looking into invitation suites, but none of them matched the vision I had in my head. So, I decided to try creating a mock-up invitation in Canvaโand it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I spent so much time and energy designing and crafting the perfect invitation suite, and I loved every second of the process.
After my wedding, we had so many family events coming up one after anotherโmore weddings, baptisms, birthdays, bridal showers, and baby showers. My husband and I went to buy a few cards for the events we were attending, but it felt like we were choosing the best of the worst. Nothing felt personal. Nothing felt perfect. Every card we picked up was followed by, โOkay, this one is good enough.โ
Then my husband said, โWhy donโt you just make a few cards?โ
And now, here we areโwith the recent launch of Received – Paper Co.
How do you describe your business?
Received – Paper Co. is my one-woman owned business, that I have just officially launched after one year of creating cards for my friends and family. I am a fully self-taught creator and run every part of my business myselfโfrom concept to final product. I design, print, and cut each card myself to quality at every stage. I have learned everything I know about card-making through hands-on experience and experimentation while creating cards and invitations for my friends and family. I have personally tested all materials I use for my cards to ensure quality.
My card-making process starts with creating original designs in Canva. I play around with different graphics, layouts, fonts and colours to create a design I am proud of. Once the design is finalized, I print it on premium cardstock. After printing, I cut and shape each card to the desired size by hand. Hand-making all my cards helps me add a personal touch that mass-produced items donโt have.
What’s your bestselling product?
At this time, I don’t have a bestselling product, but I hope to have a bestseller soon! Right now, my business sells greeting cards, but in the near future we will start to share our designs for invitations. Because my business is so new, I am waiting and watching to see what customers may gravitate towards when making their future purchases.
Why do you think they’re so popular?
Each one of my cards is hand-made and printed on premium cardstock. What makes them amazing, is the thoughtfulness that goes into each design – they are created with intention. My cards are all 5×7″ to allow plenty of space for heartfelt wishes to friends and family. White, self-sealing envelopes are included with each card as well.
