I always knew I had creative abilities. When I started working with polymer clay, blending and shaping, I realized how fun the artistic process is and that was the beginning of my business.
Each piece I create is inspired by nature in some way. My preference is to use colours that reflect the Canadian Shield and lakes of the Kawarthas, incorporate imprints of leaves and lichen and I am constantly looking for unique pendants to accompany my clay. I started with polymer clay and have expanded my material list to include gemstones, leather and other materials. I taught biology for 30 years which explains my love for the natural world and hopefully this is reflected in the pieces I create.
My best selling product is my earrings due to the large variety that I offer. The price point makes them affordable for every budget.
They’re popular because each style of earring I create is a limited quantity. I use materials such as polymer clay, wood, leather & cork, gemstones, pearls, acrylic paint, as well as nature-inspired pendant charms when I find them.
I made two pairs of earrings with cork pendants behind leaf-stamped wooden pendants. I love how they turned out. The veins of the leaves can be seen and the colours are muted greens. The stamped pieces look beautiful in front of the gold-flecked cork.
I love clothing by Made For The Lake, as well as Canoe and Lake.
