In 2013, after escaping an abusive marriage, I found myself living in a women’s shelter with my little child. Life felt overwhelming and uncertain. One day, a volunteer handed me a candle and softly said, “This will help you heal.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand — but that small flame became my first moment of calm, my first step into self-care.
That moment stayed with me.
Eleven years later, as a mother and an engineer, I now create candles to offer that same feeling of comfort, peace, and healing to others. And because my journey began in a shelter, a portion of every Iti Saaram candle is donated to Halton Women’s Place, a women shelter.
What began as survival has now become purpose.
Iti Saaram is a luxury, clean-burning candle and self-care brand rooted in healing, science, and intention. Our candles are handcrafted in small batches using a premium soy–coconut wax blend, high-quality fragrance oils, and carefully selected wooden and cotton wicks for a slow, even, clean burn.
What makes Iti Saaram unique is that every candle is created through an engineering-backed process. I am a licensed manufacturing engineer in Canada, and I apply structured testing, quality control, and burn-performance validation to every product before it reaches customers. Our candles are also third-party laboratory tested and compliant with Canadian and U.S. candle safety regulations.
Sunrise and Dreamscape are Iti Saaram’s two best-sellers because they support the most loved daily rituals:
– Sunrise for fresh energy and new beginnings.
– Dreamscape for calm, relaxation, and better sleep.
Both candles are handcrafted in small batches using a premium soy–coconut wax blend, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and carefully selected FSC-certified wooden and cotton wicks to deliver a slow, clean, even burn. They are poured into luxury, heat-safe glass jars and finished in elegant, high-end packaging designed for gifting and premium home décor.
Each candle follows an engineering-backed process with precise formulation, controlled pour temperatures, proper curing, and burn testing for performance and safety. All Iti Saaram candles are third-party laboratory tested and compliant with Canadian and U.S. candle safety regulations.
Sunrise is loved for its uplifting, fresh energy, while Dreamscape is cherished for its soothing, peaceful calm making them our signature best-selling pair.
My personal favourite is Dreamscape. I light it every single evening before going to bed as part of my wind-down ritual. After a long, busy day, its soft glow and calming scent help me slow my mind, release the stress of the day, and truly relax.
Dreamscape isn’t just a candle to me it’s my reminder to breathe, to pause, and to take care of myself. It turns my nighttime routine into a peaceful moment of calm, and that’s why I love it so much.
One of my favourite local businesses is Halton Women’s Place & Shelter. While it’s not a shop, it’s an organization that truly changed my life. I once lived in a women’s shelter as a new mom, and that experience shaped who I am today and why I created Iti Saaram. Supporting women, families, and healing in our community will always be close to my heart.
