What inspired you to start your business?
Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places. In our case, literally during a massage! Alex, one of our founders, had always been passionate about food and dreamed of launching a food business one day. During a routine massage appointment, his masseuse mentioned a small jerky business they had recently started. That casual conversation sparked something in Alex. He couldn’t stop thinking about the possibilities.
What started as an intriguing idea quickly evolved into a full-blown vision. Alex saw an opportunity to combine his lifelong passion for great food with the unique skills and talents of his friends. Together, they began experimenting with flavours, perfecting recipes, and learning the craft of creating premium beef jerky. That serendipitous conversation turned into Mama’s Boyz Jerky – a business built on passion, friendship, and a shared love for creating something delicious that people can enjoy anytime, anywhere.
How do you describe your business?
Mama’s Boyz Jerky is not your grandfather’s beef jerky – we’re redefining what jerky can be. While traditional jerky has its place, we saw an opportunity to push boundaries and create something truly exciting. We’ve curated unique flavors inspired by global cuisine, transforming premium beef into bold, punchy snacks that take your taste buds on a journey around the world.
Our main lineup includes adventurous flavours like Spicy Caesar (a Canadian classic reimagined), Korean BBQ, Shawarma (our take on the beloved Middle Eastern cured meat called basturma), Taco, and Original Spicy (inspired by soujouk, a flavourful Middle Eastern sausage). Each flavour is carefully crafted to deliver an authentic taste experience that stands out from typical jerky options. We also love experimenting with limited-time batches featuring special flavours. Our Dill Pickle jerky was a huge hit at Toronto’s PickleFest and had people coming back for more!
What’s your bestselling product?
Honestly, we’re proud to say that our entire collection of unique flavours is a must-try. Each one has its own devoted fans! However, our Family Pack is consistently our most popular option. It includes one bag of each flavour, making it perfect for first-timers who want to explore our full range or for families and groups who can’t agree on just one favourite.
When it comes to individual flavours, Spicy Caesar is often the one that really wows new customers. Its bold, punchy flavour profile captures that iconic Canadian cocktail in jerky form (alcohol free), and people are amazed by how authentic and exciting it tastes. It’s a conversation starter and frequently converts casual snackers into loyal fans.
For those who prefer a sweeter flavour profile, Korean BBQ is an absolute fan-favourite. The perfect balance of sweet, savoury, and slightly smoky notes makes it incredibly addictive. It’s the one people often come back for again and again.

What’s your personal favourite product?
If I had to pick just one (which is incredibly difficult!), my personal favourite right now is our Korean BBQ. There’s something special about this flavour that makes it universally appealing while still being exciting and delicious.
What I love most about Korean BBQ is its perfect balance of sweet and savoury notes. It’s not overly sweet like some teriyaki-style snacks, but it has just enough natural sweetness to complement the rich, savoury beef and traditional Korean spices. This makes it incredibly approachable for everyone – from kids trying jerky for the first time to adults who prefer to avoid spicy foods. It’s the flavour I confidently share with anyone, knowing they’ll enjoy it.
