What inspired you to start your business?
I started my seed shop the way many gardeners start their favourite projects—by getting my hands in the dirt and realizing I had something worth sharing. For years, I’ve grown perennial flowers and herbs in Southern Ontario, and a few years ago I began another garden on a rocky island in Northern Ontario. Each season, I collect seeds from plants that have thrived in real Canadian conditions—through frosty winters, hot summers, and everything in between.
What started as a way to grow my own dream gardens has turned into something even better—a way to connect with other gardeners across Canada who want real seeds, from a real garden, grown by a real person and my desire to learn and share what I have learned. This is a labour of love and my passion!
How do you describe your business?
I currently offer about 80 varieties of seeds and specialize in hardy perennial flowers, many of which are native wildflowers. I also sell herbs, wild blueberries, hot peppers and rhubarb seeds. Many of my plants have been growing for decades, carefully tended and adapted to the unique conditions of their environments. All plants are non-sprayed, open-pollinated and non GMO. Every seed I sell is hand-harvested directly from my plants or picked from wild plants on my property —no wholesalers, no overseas stock, just fresh, Canadian-grown seeds. I dry, clean, and store them properly to maintain their viability.
For delivery, the seeds are packaged by type in professional looking gift style mini envelopes and include detailed easy to follow germination instructions.
What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?
My bestselling products are individual varieties of Native Canadian Wildflower Seeds.
Many gardeners are looking to create native pollinator gardens and some wildflower varieties are difficult to find. These seeds are provided fresh, homegrown from plants that I have harvested in my own Canadian gardens, ensuring that they are well-suited to our climate. Native wildflowers are just beautiful and they’re an investment in long-term, sustainable gardening.
What’s your personal favourite product?
Right now, my favourite product is my Native Canadian Wildflower Seed Mix, which includes nine carefully selected perennial varieties. I love this mix because every seed in it is truly a Canadian native wildflower—unlike many commercial “wildflower mixes” that often contain non-native species or plants that are North American but not truly Canadian.
What makes this mix even more special is that each type of seed is packed individually, giving gardeners complete control over how they plant them. Whether they want to create a natural meadow, design a pollinator-friendly border, or experiment with different placements, they can arrange the plants however they like.
I’m especially drawn to this mix because I love hardy perennials—they return year after year, filling in beautifully and supporting pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
What’s your favourite local business?
In summer, I enjoy the Aberfoyle Antique Market. I collect anything floral and garden ornaments or décor.
