What inspired you to start your business?

I started Get Pretty Functional because I care about what goes into my home. I wanted to have products I could use, that didn’t make me feel like it was dangerous for my kids or pets – or myself! I loved the idea of having household products made with clean ingredients from Canadian suppliers — not something mass-produced by a big manufacturer (and a list of ingredients that I can’t pronounce). What began as something I made for myself turned into something I now get to share with others.

How would you describe your artwork and business?

Get Pretty Functional is my line of handmade room sprays that I make in small batches here in Regina. Every blend is unique to our brand and tested at home first — if I don’t love it in my own space, it doesn’t make the cut. I ONLY use natural ingredients (like essential oils and witch hazel), source everything in Canada, and package in glass bottles instead of plastic. Each one is blended, poured, and labeled by hand — not mass-made. I try to keep it simple, clean, and a little fun.

What’s your bestselling product? Why do you think it’s so popular?

Cloud Nine (Lavender + Vanilla) Room Spray

The combination of lavender essential oil and vanilla oleoresin make a dreamy pair. The spray is 100% natural, so when you spray it on your pillow before bedtime, you know you’re not inhaling synthetics and chemicals while you sleep. It’s also my personal favourite, so it makes sense to me why it’s a fan favourite.

What’s your favourite local Saskatchewan business?

Growing up, my favourite local store was World of Trout. Dani’s new store (Mortise & Tenon) is one of my favourites now as an adult.
