I have been making natural skincare products for myself and my family for years. That was originally inspired because of my newborn who had rashes that were relentless. As a physician I knew all the recommended treatments (ie. vaseline) were “safe”, but I still wanted something closer to nature and cleaner for our earth.
The actual decision to start a business sort of just happened. I really wasn’t filled with entrepreneurial goals at the time. It was peak COVID and, as an ICU doctor, I had to sink myself deep into something that would help my mental health and burnout. This was my passion, so it fit the bill and naturally progressed and evolved.
bareLUXE fits into a lot of categories – we’re a sustainable green beauty brand. Our products are clean and certified by CertClean, vegan and certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny, they’re also certified as liquid micro-plastic free by Beat the Microbead.
bareLUXE stands for marketing transparency. We focus on what is in our products and why it’s there, rather than fear-based marketing. Our supply chains are traced backwards to ensure ethical, cruelty-free, and sustainable sourcing.
Most importantly, bareLUXE is an anti-plastic brand. We’d love to get to a point of being 100% plastic free and are working hard to get there. In order to be truly successful, we need to advocate for structural change and introduction of novel materials that can sustainably replace traditional plastic.
Bakuchiol Age Support Elevated Oil Serum.
This isn’t your ordinary face oil! All bareLUXE products start with a base blend of nourishing carrier oils that are targeted towards specific skin concerns. In this case, our CoreComplex Age Support Oil is the proprietary base blend used to build the final product.
After that, the formulation is elevated using high performance, active botanicals. In this formulation, we’ve tapped into the power of bakuchiol, a natural retinol alternative. We’ve also included imperata cylindrica extract which hydrates, smoothes, and plumps skin, as well as date seed extract and Lupeol, both known to improve skin’s contour, elasticity, and firmness.
The result? A waterless, oil-serum that targets the signs of aging in a natural, but evidence-based way!
I use and love all my products and honestly can’t pick a favourite. My own skincare routine includes our vitamin C oil serum in the morning (because it’s a bit lighter), the bakuchiol oil in the evening, and our natural face scrub about twice a week.
