What inspired you to start your business?
We wanted to start a business based on positivity and making the world a better place. This was very important to both of us. The inspiration to start Woxbox came from several meaningful experiences that stayed with us over the years.
One of the most powerful moments happened when Carey was younger at summer camp. A counsellor had each girl write her name at the top of a piece of paper, then passed the sheets around so everyone could write something they liked about each person. To this day, Carey remembers how it made her feel to read all of those kind words written about her. It made her feel amazing.
This experience took on deeper meaning when we began attending memorials and heard people sharing beautiful tributes about those who had passed. We realized how amazing it would be if people could hear these wonderful things while they were still with us. So often, we don’t take the time to tell people why we love, appreciate, and admire them, assuming they already know.
The final catalyst came through a dream Carey had about “Words of Kindness”… messages in boxes written about someone special. It immediately reminded her of that summer camp experience and gave us the nudge to start creating “Words of Kindness” boxes for family and friends. The response was incredible. They were received with such gratitude, with many saying it was the “best gift they had ever received.” They would read their messages over and over, and soon others started asking us to make boxes for their loved ones too. That’s when we knew we had something special.
We built Woxbox so others can easily create a meaningful gift to celebrate the people in their lives too!

For those on a tighter timeline or budget, we also offer a digital Woxbox at a lower price point, which delivers the same sentiment in an instant, affordable way.
Our simple online platform makes creating a Woxbox easy.
