What inspired you to open your shop?
Our journey leading up to the launch of Zero Waste MVMT was deeply rooted in our experiences during a trip abroad in Bali, Indonesia. As passionate travellers and nature enthusiasts, we spent several months soaking in the island’s unique culture and breathtaking landscapes. However, it was impossible to ignore the glaring environmental issues that were prevalent there.
One particular beach in Bali has stayed in our memory because of its devastating transformation. What was once a pristine paradise now had plastic waste blanketing both the water and shoreline. Not only that, but in our travels around the island we also witnessed garbage being burned on the sides of the streets, pointing to the urgent need for more effective waste management systems.
Experiencing the effects of single-use plastics and improper waste management first-hand led us to question why we were even using these products in the first place. This prompted a revelation – the most effective way to fight this issue wasn’t just managing waste better, but eliminating the source of the problem altogether. That is, veering away from plastic production altogether and fostering a culture of reuse and sustainability.
This experience in Bali inspired us to take action and create Zero Waste MVMT, a platform dedicated to providing reusable alternatives made from natural, biodegradable materials. Our mission is to offer products that not only serve their purpose effectively but also leave no harmful trace on the environment once they’ve served their purpose. Our journey in Bali was a wake-up call that ultimately became the catalyst for Zero Waste MVMT.
How would you describe your business?
Zero Waste MVMT is all about making eco-friendly living easy and accessible. We’re passionate about offering you products that are good for the planet, made from natural, biodegradable materials that won’t leave a trace behind. We source materials that can return to nature and work with like minded individuals who care just as much about our planet as we do!
The uniqueness of our business lies not just in the products we offer but in the holistic approach we adopt towards sustainability – from ensuring our supply chains are sustainable and ethical, to utilizing packaging that is not only plastic-free but also reusable and compostable.

What’s your best selling product and why is it so popular?
Our best selling product would have to be our Shampoo and Conditioner Bars or our Solid Dish Soap Bar.
We believe these two products are a hit among eco-conscious individuals because they truly do perform just as well, if not better, than their “un-sustainable” counter parts (liquid product in plastic bottles). People often think that just because a product is “eco-friendly”, there would have to be compromise with quality and efficacy. When people use these products for the first time, they’re often surprised at how well they perform and more often than not, mention how much better they are than what they were using previously! (Even the expensive salon shampoo). This is always a nice thing to hear, and reminds us that we’re moving in the right direction and helping to make a difference.
What’s your favourite product from your own shop?
My personal favourite right now would have to be our CAUSEcloth™️ Swedish Dishcloths! These have got to be the most versatile cleaning tool for the home. They’re great because they help reduce SO much paper towel and they perform much better than any rag would. They’re super absorbent, odor-resistant, and replace 17+ rolls of paper towel. They make cleaning day such a breeze and they work great for pretty much all surfaces. It’s also worth mentioning that with each CAUSEcloth™️ sold, we plant 1 tree or remove 1 lb. of plastic directly from the ocean. It’s a great way to make a positive impact, support a great cause, AND reduce waste!
