What inspired you to start your business?

I wanted to create health-promoting products that were truly natural, sourced directly from the earth and with 100% traceable origins. Being able to grow and harvest all of the herbs in my herbal tinctures means that I get to utilize and provide the most vibrant, fresh, and potent plant medicine available on the market! I also wanted to be able to support other small farms and organic growers across the island and within BC by providing other premium herbs that are still locally-sourced. It was important to practice what I preach when it came to how I choose to offer my products, and a lot of research and careful consideration went into the process of finding ways to make my business entirely zero-waste, from sourcing and harvesting plant material to packaging and shipping products; I wanted everything within my business model to reflect the care and consideration I think we need to show ourselves, the planet, and each living thing within it.

How do you describe your brand?

My business is a reflection of myself in that it mirrors everything I value. Whole-body health, zero waste living, supportive natural remedies, and effective personal care products. Every ingredient in my product line is 100% natural and organic, which means everything is as pure and gentle as it can possibly be. I’ve always been drawn to healing myself and those around me using plant medicine, and eventually went on to study herbology, medicine-making, aromatherapy, and integrative therapy to provide a well-balanced, conscientious, and therapeutic approach to my lifelong passion of working with plants and people. I am proud to make all of my products by hand, in small batches to ensure optimal quality and potency, and to provide effective herbal medicine and botanical bodycare products to my fellow Canadians!

What’s your best selling product?

My mineral toothpastes (which took 5 years of tweaking to finally perfect) and my herbal tea blends.

Why do you think it’s so popular?

I think the toothpaste is so popular because it genuinely feels like a spa treatment for your mouth! The pleasant flavour from various organic essential oils paired with a mineral-rich, creamy base loaded with anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and enamel-protecting qualities makes it an ideal, totally natural, budget-friendly oral health sidekick for all ages.

My herbal teas have been touted as being the absolute freshest and tastiest, most likely because I make them all in small batches from the most fresh dried organic herbs I can get my hands on. This makes them both delicious as well as effective for almost any common ailment!

What’s your personal favourite product?

I personally love the Milky Oat Seed Tincture. It’s such a soothing, gentle, delicious way to support the body throughout periods of stress and fatigue. As a small business owner I can personally attest to frequently feeling frazzled and burnt out, and I especially love that this tincture is safe for anyone to take, even during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and while taking other medications. Plus, the organic, locally-produced, and award-winning vodka base makes our tinctures the most delicious way to get that herbal medicine down!

What’s your favourite local British Columbia business?

Oh, there’s so many, I feel guilty choosing just one! I’m currently a big fan of all the local market collectives that have popped up over the years. Places like Dot.Naturals in Sidney, BC, Primrose Collective, and Market Collective in Victoria, BC are all great locally-run, women-owned shops that are supporting other small business owners, which is such a fantastic way to get all your shopping done in one place while supporting your local community and economy.
