What inspired you to start your business?

I was inspired to start my business when I realized that my passion for making jewellery was ignited. It was a time of discovery and reinvention. I had recently discovered that the combination of my lapidary and gemstone cutting skills together with my gold smithing skills were a unique combination people noticed, and wanted my designs. It made sense to share my passion and artistry more seriously.

How would you describe your business?

My business is as unique as the customers I serve, looking for something unique that no one else offers. I am self taught and while coming to this trade later in life, I have individualized my training with several different masters artisans, who have provided me with the training and skills required to hand fabricate my unique designs. Some pieces are acid etched, some handmade waxes are cast in molds, and some require the precision of a 3D CAD design. My collection of gemstone rough allow my customers to choose from a wide selection of unusual stones. On occasion I teach customers how to cut their own stone. I focus on Canadian made precious metals and sourced stones. However, when customers are looking for a stone not mined in Canada, I try to source their gemstone needs from small-scaled fair mining operations. I am always delighted when customers, who have inherited family jewellery want pieces repurposed and ask me to redesign a loved and treasured heirloom. And sometimes it’s a simple repair.

What’s your bestselling product?

My bestselling product are the Cobra Bracelets from the Fiercely Delicate Collection.

Why do you think they’re so popular?

They are hand-woven with precision and care, ensuring each one is different from the next. The feel of this bracelet is light and sensual. The vibe is intriguingly alluring with its 22K Yellow & Rose Gold and Silver galvanized woven Miyuki beads. The clasps are 14K gold or silver plated.

What’s your favourite product that you make?

I love the exquisite Ocean Jasper, Citrine, Sterling Silver Etched Gryphon Necklace which is a piece of wearable art. It features a hand-carved warm multi-coloured hued ocean jasper stone in 925 Sterling Silver with an etched gryphon on the reverse. It is flanked by a .7 ct Citrine gemstone. I love it because it is an expression of myth and worldly beauty.

What’s your favourite local Toronto shop?

The Beadery where I have my bench & stones.
