Learn more about Yellow String Co.
I have always wanted to open up something of my own, especially after helping my mom open up her small sewing business. I was constantly seeing others pursue their creative hobbies and turn them into a business, so I thought, if they can do it, so can I! I started Yellow String Co. in the summer of my first year at university, bored with summer courses and yearning for something new. I bought my first strings of gemstones and freshwater pearls from a local bead shop in Jordan, made a few bracelets, and fell in love with them. Ever since, I have added earrings, necklaces, rings, stickers, and more to my shop!
Throughout my life, yellow has been such an inspiring and alluring colour to me. Most of the dresses I gravitate towards for life events have consistently, and unintentionally, been yellow. Additionally, beading has always been a constant hobby in my life (and I try a lot of hobbies). It is rhythmic and slow, which helps me calm down and work with my hands in an everchanging digital age. After combining these two aspects, the name for Yellow String stuck, and its bright and bubbly connotation fits perfectly with the image and aesthetic of the brand.
I love bright colours and happy environments, which is clearly reflected in my product designs and packaging. I use natural and dyed gemstones, cute lampwork beads such as strawberries and mushrooms, and freshwater pearls to create my unique pieces. I love the look of cohesive beads strung in a random pattern, contrasting colours, and an array of different bead shapes. It makes the final product look so effortless, natural, and full of charm.
In terms of product and collection launches, I love to curate a theme that has been inspiring for me, such as my favourite books in The Bookish Collection, nostalgic tv shows in The It Girls Collection, or even just the beautiful changing seasons in The Fall Festivities Collection. I am constantly learning something new about product creation, jewelry quality, and art making, which is what makes the small business journey so fulfilling.
The Mushroom Dew bracelet!
Mushroom Dew is an earth toned stretchy beaded bracelet that always sells the fastest at local markets. It includes rose quartz, green jade, black rainbow obsidian, citrine, and beautiful freshwater pearls, topped with a light pink mushroom bead in the middle. It’s easy on the eyes, has a mature colour palette, and can be worn with anything!
I tend to love the products that aren’t always the first to sell. They are the ones I made because I wanted to test out a specific colour scheme, or they were inspired by something personal. Sometimes it’s the simplest designs that I fall in love with, often protective of them because I am afraid they might be “too simple.” I can’t pick just one, so I will say that I’m obsessed with the Rose Quartz & Pearl Stud Drop Earrings, the Sweet Romantics Necklace, and the Blueberry Pie Bracelet. The earrings are just the perfect, elegant touch to any outfit, the necklace is a beautiful statement piece for all the warm reds I wear, and although I don’t own a Blueberry Pie bracelet, it just gives me joy every time I see it.
