Two Chiefs
Learn about Two Chiefs: Canadian Indigenous Gift Shop
TwoChiefs is a Canadian gift shop and Indigenous-owned business based in Rosedale, BC. They’ve been supporting and promoting Indigenous artists and makers through their retail and online shop since 2021.
Learn more about TwoChiefs and what their bestselling product is in our interview below.
What inspired you to start your business?
After moving back to my home community of Xwchíyò:m (Cheam) First Nation during the pandemic, I was putting my acting and entertainment career on pause and wanted to find a way to give back to artists. TwoChiefs started as a way to provide space for Indigenous artists while paying homage to my grandfather and father, who both served as Chiefs, carrying their values forward in the business and giving birth to the name TwoChiefs.
How do you describe your business?
TwoChiefs is an Indigenous-owned and operated retail store based in Rosedale, BC, on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō people. We carry a curated selection of goods made or designed by Indigenous artists and makers — including art prints, blankets, mugs, soaps, candles, coffee, and bath products. Every product we carry has a story behind it. We’re not a marketplace — we’re a destination for people who want to shop with intention and bring something meaningful into their home. We opened in January 2021 and have shipped to customers across Canada and beyond.
What’s your bestselling product?
Our blankets and our RavenSong Soap & Candle products are both consistently at the top. The blankets feature stunning Indigenous art designs and make beautiful gifts, and RavenSong — a newer addition to our shelves has taken off quickly.
Why do you think it’s so popular?
The blankets speak for themselves, the artwork is striking and meaningful. They’re high quality and they work as both home décor and meaningful gifts. People are drawn to the stories behind the designs. RavenSong has resonated because the products are handcrafted in BC, the scents are beautiful, and customers love supporting a small Indigenous maker. There’s something about holding a product that has real craft and real story behind it that you just can’t get from a big box store.
What’s your personal favourite product from your shop right now?
Right now I’d have to say the RavenSong Soapberry Ice Cream Artisan Soap. It’s the kind of product I want to give people when I want them to feel taken care of.
