What inspired you to open your shop?

My discovery of macrame began when I moved to the East coast of Canada, embracing life by the ocean. Exploring the shores of PEI, gathering driftwood and collecting an array of treasures, inspired me to create art out of these natural materials. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the world of macrame on Pinterest, and I began to create a rope wall hanging on driftwood. I fell in love with the craft immediately and this drove me to further hone my skills and establish a business centered around creating art that resonates deeply with me. The ability to express myself through my artwork and share it with others fills me with immense gratitude.

How would you describe your business?

For over 5 years now, I have immersed myself in the art of macrame. As a self-taught artist and a one-woman run business, every aspect, from creative design to photography and marketing, is meticulously handled by me. This ensures that each order receives thoughtful attention and care. I showcase and sell my artwork at various local markets along the East coast, as well as in select stores on Prince Edward Island. Additionally, I sell online through Etsy.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my business is sharing the beauty of macrame through beginner workshops. Throughout the years, I have taught diverse classes at local shops, festivals, and even schools. The art of macrame requires patience, and I thoroughly enjoy the process. I create my art in my home studio, surrounded by my plants, usually burning incense and dancing around to music. The bohemian beachy style and the essence of the 70s greatly inspire me. Mustard yellow is my favourite colour, and you can see it featured often throughout my work.

My latest obsession is macrame fashion and I am in love with the contrasting texture rope brings against different fabrics. It really adds so much depth to an outfit. You can elevate a minimalist design by using bold, chunky rope and that is what you will notice in my latest collection of macrame bags. As my skills continue to grow, anticipate upcoming collections featuring beach cover-ups and tops.

What’s your best selling product and why do you think it’s so popular?

My best-selling items are the macrame plant hangers. I offer them in numerous styles, colors, and lengths, providing a wide range of options to complement your home. These macrame plant hangers not only serve as beautiful decorations but also offer a practical solution for saving space. Additionally, I take pride in fulfilling custom orders, with plant hangers being the most popular choice. Customers value the ability to order a hanging plant holder that precisely fits their room.

When you make a purchase of a majestic macrame product, you receive a meticulously designed and hand-knotted piece of art. The craftsmanship of my work can be truly appreciated by observing the intricate knots, attention to finishing details, high-quality materials, and the carefully branded packaging. To create texture and depth in my art, I utilize a diverse range of natural materials, many of which I gather from the beaches of PEI. These materials include driftwood, crystals, sea glass, shells, wood beads, and raffia. I primarily work with recycled cotton rope and save leftover scraps to incorporate into future artwork, aiming to minimize waste.

What’s your personal favourite product from your shop?

The Lexi Market bag. It’s the perfect versatile bag for everyday use! This is the macrame bag I take with me everywhere, whether that be at the beach, running errands, or a night out on the town.
